Calming Dogs With D.A.P.

One of the best dog calming products is DAP, an atomizer that contains the scent (pheromone) a mother dog releases when nursing puppies. This “Dog Appeasing Pheromone” (D.A.P.) calms all manner of anxious dogs. For example, D.A.P. calms dogs with separation anxietiesthat are upset when home alone and the family is at work. D.A.P. calms newly adopted dogs, and dogs frightened by thunder or fireworks. D.A.P. is good for post surgical or sick dogs wearing casts that need to rest and heal.

For the past several years, D.A.P. has been available as a liquid that is dispersed in an atomizer. The pheromone diffuses through the room calming dogs although the scent is not detected by people. Plugging the atomizer in for a few hours a day is all that most dogs with anxiety need to help them become calmer at home, so the product lasts for several months. Now, D.A.P. is available as a dog collar which is activated by body heat.

The new D.A.P. collar will be ideal for anxiety outside the home, such as for walking dogs that are anxious around other dogs or who associate some areas of the neighborhood with stressful incidents that occurred in the past.
