Caring for Arthritic Dogs, Using Blood’s Palace or Xue Fu Zhu Ye Tang for Arthritis in Dogs

TCM Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbs for Arthritis & Pain, Blood’s Palace or Xue Fu Zhu Ye Tang
The TCM formula Blood’s Palace or Xue Fu Zhu Ye Tang is ideal for arthritic dogs with musculoskeletal pain that also have cancer, heart or lung disease. This formula is designed to direct the herbal energy to the chest (upper jiao), thus the benefit to the heart, lungs, and liver. Arthritic dogs with heart disease, including chronic heart failure (CHF), chest pain, myocarditis, or coronary artery disease, benefit from Blood’s Palace. Arthritic dogs with pleurisy, kennel cough, tracheobronchitis, or a chronic cough benefit from Blood’s Palace.

Because the liver is also in the upper part of the body (upper jiao), dogs with arthritis and hepatomegaly, cirrhosis of the liver, or elevated liver enzymes benefit from Blood’s Palace.

Because Blood’s Palace builds blood and moves blood, moves chi and prevents shi statnation, it is helpful for cancer. Arthritic dogs with mast cell cancer, hemangiosarcoma, lung cancer, thyroid tumors, thoracic tumors, or adenocarcinomas benefit from Blood’s Palace.

Because liver chi stagnation can lead to headaches, Blood’s Palace can be used for headaches. It helps other neurologic problems, including meningitis.

Blood’s Palace is helpful for Great Danes and Dobys with cervical spondylomyelopathy. It helps with any sudden musculoskeletal trauma.

When not to use Blood’s Palace
Blood’s Palace should not be used in dogs with “damp.”

Safe source of Blood’s Palace or Xue Fu Zhu Ye Tang
Although the ancient Chinese had wisdom to formulate excellent medicines, the modern Chinese do not provide these medicines in a guaranteed safe form. I do not recommend using any TCM formula that has not been through good manufacturing process (GMP) in the US or Canada. Please ask me for herbs that are safe for your pet.
