She'll be up against qualifier Anna Bondar after the pair got through their semi-finals in straight sets.

Kato beat third-seed Lee Ya-hsuan, from Taiwan, 6-4 7-6, while Bondar proved far too strong for Thailand's Varatchaya Wongteanchai, winning 6-1 6-0 in a little more than an hour.

The pair lost Saturday's doubles final to Ashleigh Barty and Arina Rodionova.

In a sense of history repeating, a qualifier also made the final last weekend.

Bondar has been the giant killer of the tournament, taking out the No.2, five and eight seeds on the way to the final.

She's ranked 359 in the world and has won six $10,000 ITF tournaments.

Kato is sitting at a career-high ranking of 165 and will be looking to add to her two career ITF titles.

The final gets under way at 11am and entry is free.
