How to Foster an Abandoned Cat
Remember: if the cat or kitten has had a bad experience, get its health checked by a vet. Otherwise, you may regret getting too attached to it.
1. Take your new cat to the vet, unless he is from a shelter and the vets there have already examined him.
2. Be gentle and patient when handling the cat.
3. Speak to him in a calm, reassuring voice.
4. Give him a quiet place to rest undisturbed in your home until he gets used to his new surroundings.
5. Make sure there is not a big crowd around him.
6. Remember that abandoned cats usually have a bad history; so don't force him to do something he doesn't like.
7. Don't try to hold him too much until he is ready.
