The Other Cobras

Ford put a lot into the Shelby Cobra and the company had a lot riding on the success of Carroll Shelby with his Southern California hot rod. However, Ford was toying with the idea of building a Corvette competitor in-house, it only made sense that they would base it on the already successful Cobra.
While most concepts never get past the drawing and modeling stages, at least three prototypes were built, including the Bordinat Cobra, The Cougar II Concept, and the coach built Ghia Cobra. Besides Ford, several privateers built their own cars with unique bodies mounted to leftover Cobra chassis or converted race cars.
Here are some of the forgotten Cobras.
